Colour Blind

Based on a true story!

“Mummy why I’m I so green?”

a toddler asked.

his mother laughed boy_-_sad

and tried to

teach him colours.

“You are not so green

as grass, and leaves and

lily pads,” she said.

Dark skinned,

he thought himself

ill-placed among his kin.

But though she showed him

light and dark

of various hues,

she could not tell why

he felt blue.

Light skinned,

his siblings were embraced

and hugged

while he alone felt lost

at only three.
