Mango Season

This “found poem” is created from words by Sam Selvon in A Brighter Sun and various Biblical verses. It describes my favourite childhood treat- the ripe mango, particularly the dou-dous

carel-blain

When I was a child,

mango do-dous was as

cold water to a weary soul.

I sat down in its shade with great delight,

and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
